INSEE Cement – Sri Lanka’s largest and leading cement manufacturer successfully completed a week-long scheduled maintenance of the Galle Grinding Plant to ensure the highest level of productivity and quality consistency in production. The inspection, carried out by a team of specialists from original equipment supplier Loesche of Germany, was planned and scheduled months in advance, in order to be executed in strict adherence to stringent quarantine, travel, health and safety regulations in the country.
“As Sri Lanka’s only fully integrated cement manufacturer, we are stepping up to meet the growing demand of the local market by increasing our reliability and improving operations by up-keeping our plants and machinery to globally benchmarked standards,” Gustavo Navarro, Chief Executive Officer at INSEE Cement stated. “By carrying out preventive maintenance we ensure there are no breakdowns or failures in our operations, eliminating any occupational hazards for our teams as their health and safety remains our priority.”
INSEE Cement’s plants currently possess a 3.6 -million-ton production capacity through its 2 plants in Galle, with 1.5 mio tons capacity complemented by the integrated cement plant in Puttalam with a production capacity of 1.3 million tons, and a 0.8-million-ton import capacity at the Colombo Cement Terminal. The local cement production is supported by an island-wide dealer network, warehouses in Kurunegala and Trincomalee, and Express Logistics Centres in Kandy, Kadawatha, Piliyandala, Nuwara Eliya and Hambantota, serving the market effectively and efficiently with a land cargo fleet of over 150 trucks under strict COVID guidelines and safety measures.
“We planned the inspection with Loesche, a leading German cement grinding and milling equipment manufacturer, to ensure minimum downtime within an optimal time-frame, so that we are geared to supply the local market at our highest capacity,” Navarro continued. “INSEE Cement’s industry best practices have always given us a competitive advantage, ensuring that we were the first to return to the local market during the pandemic.
