In the move towards a progressive journey for the country, the former MP said he is ready to renew the friendship with Mr. Sajith Premadasa, the Leader of Opposition.
He made this observation in response to reporters following a religious program held by a group of frontline leaders of the United National Party (UNP).
He added: "After the Party was defeated, our leader Ranil Wickremesinghe said that the party leadership will be given to a new group. Even I said about three weeks ago that I am ready to accept the party leadership after him. So, I stand with that view."
"I am of the belief that in the move of overthrowing a regime and building up an anti-government campaign, all parties against the government shall be united," the UNP National Organiser went on. "I think I have no personal grudge with Mr. Sajith Premadasa. We can talk to each other at any time. We have done that, because we are old friends. So, I believe we can move forward in a progressive journey for the country by renewing our friendship."
